TIRUPATI: In the aftermath of the Samjhauta Express tragedy, the Railway Protection Force has stepped-up the surveillance in the Tirupati railway station in view of its vulnerability due to heavy inflow of pilgrims from all over the country. Under the augmented security scheme, a dog squad has been pressed into service from Guntakal, the divisional railway headquarters, and all major trains especially those bound for Hyderabad, Mumbai and Delhi are being subjected to close checks and the baggage of the passengers are also being searched. The RPF cops with the dog squad at hand are carrying out searches on the running trains as well . The teams under the supervision of the Assistant Security Commission, RPF, Renigunta, B.C. Dharma Rao are said to be closely monitoring both the inward and the outward movement of the passengers in the pilgrim-choked Tirupati and Renigunta railway stations for any possible infiltration of unsocial elements. "We are not sparing even the rakes and coaches parked in the yards ," a RPF official said.
