Venkatesh, filed the papers for the council poll from the Local Authorities segment. Seven corporators, an MPTC member and two corporators of other parties proposed Mr. Venkateswarlu.

Post sought

Mr. Venkateswarlu demanded Deputy Mayor post in the Kurnool corporation if he has to retire from the contest. Meanwhile, an MPTC of the party Pratap Reddy from Stanton Puram on the outskirts of the city also filed the papers.

He is close to the Kotla family.

Leaders worried

The Congress leaders are worried about the entry of the rebels at the last minute. The party leaders started damage control exercise in order to convince the rebels to withdraw.
