HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Government has served another notice on AIADMK leader and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Jayalalithaa seeking to recover about eight acres of her land near Hyderabad. The Government's stand is that the land at Pet Basheerabad in Qutbullahpur mandal of Ranga Reddy district was assigned to the weaker sections and that Ms. Jayalalithaa purchased it in three bits, two of them directly from the original assignees and one through a third party. It is now seeking to take over the land as per its recent decision to recover all assigned land allotted to the weaker sections. First notice
Through the first notice served on January 24 by the Qutbullahpur Mandal Revenue Officer, Ms. Jayalalithaa was asked to show cause why her land could not be taken over. The MRO said she had replied stating that the extent was patta land, and not assigned land as alleged. Finding her reply "not satisfactory," the MRO despatched another notice on Thursday, asking her to prove her claim with proper documents.
Hearing
Syed Ali Murtaza Rizvi, Joint Collector, Ranga Reddy district, told The Hindu that a hearing would be conducted at the Qutbullahpur MRO office on March 6. Further action would follow depending on verification of the documents. The MRO said the master-register showed that the land was part of 52 acres of assigned land existing under the same survey number.
