Belgaum: Ten children of employees of the Central Excise Department have been awarded scholarships and cash prizes of Rs. 5,000 each. These scholarships and cash prizes were distributed during a function held here on Friday. According to a release by Ashok P. Savant, general secretary of the Belgaum Central Excise and Customs, Group `D' Executive Officers' Association, six of the students selected were those who scored high percentage in the tenth standard examination in 2006.
Winners
They are: M.B. Akkamahadevi (93.44 per cent), Pooshan Deshpande (91.52 per cent), Shreya B. Hiremath (86.60 per cent), Imran Ambi (88.64 per cent), Sabihanaaz Mushrif (73.76 per cent) and Neeta Gamanagatti (72.16 per cent). The other four are those who secured first class in the twelfth standard examination in 2006. They are: Satish Solapure (68.50 per cent), Savita Solapure (67.50 per cent), Praveen Kumar (66.83 per cent) and Ahmed Begaum Mushrif (65.83 per cent).
