Puducherry: The Pattali Makkal Katchi legislator, R .K. R. Anantharaman, has called upon the administration to scrap the joint entrance test for admission to professional colleges during 2007-2008. In a release here on Tuesday, Mr. Anantharaman said that the Territorial Government should emulate Tamil Nadu and consider only the marks the candidates obtained in the Plus-Two as well as other qualifying examinations. He appealed to Education Minister M.O.H.F. Shahjahan to reconsider his stand that the marks the candidates got both at the Plus-Two and entrance test would be considered. In the interest of students from economically backward families, the Government should discontinue entrance test.
