A.P. House witnesses uproarious scenes

Special Correspondent

No business transacted as Opposition was bent upon discussion on adjourn motions

HYDERABAD: An angry Opposition forced adjournment of the Assembly on Friday protesting against the anti-media order issued by the State Government seeking prosecution of editors and publishers for carrying defamatory reports.

No business could be carried out as a determined Opposition sought discussion on a spate of adjournment motions it tabled demanding a debate on GO 938. After trying unsuccessfully to restore order, Speaker K. R. Suresh Reddy abruptly adjourned the House for the day.

They were not pacified by Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy's assurance that the GO had been cancelled and an inquiry initiated into the background.
