Addressing a review meeting of the project at the collectorate, Mr. Premachandran said a meeting would be held in Thiruvananthapuram on March 2 to discuss issues related to laying of pipelines for the project along the roads of the PWD in the State. PWD Minister T.U. Kuruvila would participate in the meeting. The Minister asked representatives of people, officials and contractors to make concerted effort to complete the project in a phased manner. The estimated cost of the Cherthala drinking water project was Rs.396.63 crore. Around 6.53 lakh people residing in the Cherthala municipality and neighbouring villages would get the benefit of the project. As per the project, water from Moovattupuzha River would be brought to Cherthala in pipelines laid through Ernakulam and Kottayam districts.
