Commission's fiat to U.P.

Legal Correspondent

New Delhi: The Election Commission has asked the Uttar Pradesh Government to ensure that no attempt is made by officials to backdate transfer orders.

In a communication to the State Government, the Commission has ordered a ban on handing over or taking over of charge by any official connected with election work after February 21, when the model code of conduct came into effect after the announcement of the poll schedule.

The communication followed information that back-date transfer orders were being done in some districts.

The Commission decided to review such orders issued.
