HYDERABAD: The fuel transporters in twin cities and Rangareddy district have threatened to stop plying of tankers from Wednesday midnight, following the stalemate over enhancement of rates to be paid to the tanker owners. Talks between the managements of Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum, Indian Oil Corporation and IBP to hammer out a solution for tenders failed raising the spectre of a fuel shortage engulfing the State capital. Representatives of various petrol tankers association and Andhra Pradesh Federation of Petroleum Dealers told mediapersons on Friday that the companies' offer was fare short of their demands. The tanker owners maintained that they would incur losses to the tune of Rs. 8,000 per day if they accept the offer of petroleum companies. The BPCL was offering 48 paise to transport 1,000 litres of petrol for every kilometre and free fuel for transportation. However, the tanker owners' association points out that despite free fuel, they need 94 paise for transportation. There are 500 petrol tankers, which are involved in the transportation of petroleum products in the twin cities and neighbouring Ranga Reddy district.
