Bonanza for music lovers

Bangalore: Classical music buffs have a happy weekend ahead with two doyens of Carnatic and Hindustani music performing on Sunday. The indefatigable M. Balamuralikrishna performs at the Ambedkar Bhavan on Millers Road at 6.30 p.m.

The event The occasion, for which former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda is chief guest, will also see three veteran musicians being honoured with the K.S. Hazari Prasad Memorial Kala Sevak Puraskar.

It is a ticketed concert.

The same evening will see a Sangeeth Samaroh featuring Hindustani vocalist Ashwini Bhide Deshpande and a sitar jugalbandi by Ustad Bale Khan and Ustad Chote Rahimat Khan. The artistes will be accompanied by Pandit Ravindra Yavagal, Ravindra Katoti and Rajendra Nakod.

The venue for this free concert, scheduled to start at 5.30 p.m., is the Ravindra Kalakshetra.
