NEW DELHI: Three persons, including a woman, have been arrested in connection with the murder of a woman who ran a beauty parlour at Ashok Nagar here.

According to the police, Anju, who was heavily in debt, along with her husband Anil and his friend Prem Pal, allegedly killed 32-year-old Renu Jain for her gold jewellery.

They later dumped the body at Loni in Ghaziabad.

Prem Pal allegedly sexually assaulted her before strangulating her to death.

Renu had gone missing from her "Akash Beauty Parlour" under highly mysterious circumstances on February 7. Her husband Rajesh Jain filed a "missing" complaint at the Mansarovar Park police station the next day.

It was later converted into a case of abduction after the police failed to trace her.

    Phone call

During investigations, the police learnt that Renu was accompanied by a trainee, Anju, at the time she went missing. Acting on the lead, the police analysed the phone call records of the victim and found that one of the last calls received by her was made from the mobile of Anil, later identified as husband of Anju.

Eventually Anju was arrested at Nand Nagri on Thursday.

During interrogation, Anju purportedly told the police that she took Renu with her on the pretext of attending to a bride on February 7 and offered her some eatables laced with sedatives. Later she along with Anil and Prem strangulated her to death at a secluded place in Loni.

Prem was earlier involved in cases under the NDPS Act and Arms Act in Uttar Pradesh, the police said.
