Youth goes missing

Thiruvananthapuram: An 18-year-old youth, Sony, was reported missing in the estuary of the Neyyar river at Pozhikkara on Friday afternoon. The police said Sony entered the water along with his friends, Sathish, 17, and Bijil Das, 19, around 4 p.m.

The group was caught in a strong tide. Sony went missing while the other two managed to swim to safety. The police have registered a missing person report. Local boatmen and divers searched the waters for the missing youth.

Hit by train

A 48-year-old man was killed and another seriously injured when they were hit by a train near the English India Clay factory at Veli.

The deceased was identified as Bahuleyan. The injured person, identified as Satheeshan, has been admitted to Medical College Hospital.

The police said the incident occurred when the two were attempting to cross the track around 5.45 p.m.

Found hanging

A minor girl was found hanging in her house at Pettah on Friday. The police suspect the girl to have committed suicide.

Body found

The body of a 50-year-old man was fished out of the Neyyar river near Amaravila on Friday evening. The deceased was identified as Retnaraj, a headload worker.

The police have registered a case of unnatural death. The body has been kept at Neyyattinkara taluk hospital for the post-mortem examination.
