MOMENTS TO CHERISH: Students from Kashmir receiving mementoes presented by Zarina Hariz, wife of the Station Commander, Pangode, Brigadier P.M. Hariz
Thiruvananthapuram: Students of Army School and Kendriya Vidyalaya at Pangode here had a chance to interact with children from the strife-torn villages of Kashmir on Friday. As many as 80 Kashmiri students who are on a four-day trip to Thiruvananthapuram and Kanyakumari visited the schools and interacted with children. Organised as part of the Indian Army's Operation Sadbhavana, the trip is part of an effort to promote national integration and bring the children of these schools into the mainstream. During the course of their visit, the children met Governor R.L. Bhatia at the Raj Bhavan. The Army Unit at Pangode hosted the visit. The children also presented an entertainment programme depicting the life and culture of Kashmir before an invited audience at the Military Camp, Pangode. Station Commander Brigadier P.M. Hariz was present. The State Bank of India, Thiruvananthapuram branch, co-sponsored the event. The students were presented with mementoes sponsored by the Community Services Banking Division of the SBI. Zarina Hariz, wife of the Station Commander, gave away the mementoes. SBI Assistant General Manager K. Kurian Koshy was present on the occasion.
