BJP demands apology from Rajasekhara Reddy

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Andhra Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday demanded an apology from Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and action against those responsible for issuing a government order that imposed restrictions on the media.

State BJP chief Bandaru Dattatreya took exception to Dr. Reddy's statement that he was unaware as to who was behind the order. "The Chief Minister has lost his grip on the administration and there is nothing called collective responsibility," he told correspondents here.

He said the fact that the Government had withdrawn several government orders including pardon to Gour Venkata Reddy or the endowment case "showed that it was unable to administer the State."
