THRISSUR: The education sector in the country should be modernised tapping the potential of Information Technology (IT), M.S. Ananth, director of the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai, has said. He was addressing a convocation ceremony at Jyothi Engineering College, Cheruthuruthy, near here, on Saturday. Dr. Ananth said IT would effectively help a traditional university achieve its primary missions. "The Internet has democratised learning. Faculty members are facilitators now. Inter-disciplinary groups from different locations work together exploiting electronic connectivity. Intelligent software agents browsing through knowledge networks are fast replacing specialists," he said.
