Elamparithi bags a treble

TIRUCHI: P. Elamparithi of Alpha Plus MHSS won gold in 100m, 200m and long jump in the boys' section (VII Std) at the World Beaters Talent spotting scheme athletic meet for Tiruchi Educational District here.

The winners: Boys: Eighth Std: 100m: J. David Clinton (St. John's Vestry AI HSS); 200m: M. Deepak (HAPF); 400m: M. Deepak; Long jump: B. Vigneshwaran; Shot put: S. Ahmed Ashraf.

Seventh Std: 100m: P. Elamparithi (Alpha Plus MHSS); 200m: P. Elamparithi; 400m: R. Prasanth; Long jump: P. Elamparithi.

Sixth Std: 100m: G. Jerin Douglas (SBIOA); 200m: L. Manoj (RMHS); 400m: K. Prakash (Velankanni Raj MHSS); Long jump: S. Saran Raj (St. Joseph's College HSS); High jump: A. Anand Raj (Annai School); Shot put: A. Martin (Little Flower HSS).

Customs posts win

Customs and Central Excise defeated Balu Memorial Football Club 2-1 in a Tiruchi District Football Association super division league tie here on Saturday.

Jaffer was the first to score for Balu Memorial off a penalty kick in the 18th minute. But Ramanathan equalised just before the break. Justin netted the winner for Customs in the second half.

Customs and St. Joseph's College share the top spot of the table and a play-off will decide the winner of the super division league.

Sriram nets three

Sriram netted three goals as Tiruvarur defeated Pudukottai 5-3 in a league encounter of the SDAT Tiruchi regional-level hockey tournament here on Saturday. Tiruvarur leads the table with 10 points.
