VIJAYAWADA: District Education Officer D.V. Krishna Vinayak on Saturday asked teachers of English to hone their skills so that students could master the language in a perfect manner. Speaking at the inaugural session of a need-based course organised by the District Centre for English (DCE) at Patamata ZP High School, Mr. Vinayak exhorted the teachers to follow a two-pronged approach - qualitative and quantitative - and hoped that courses offered by the DCE would help them realise their dreams. Mr. Vinayak lauded the efforts of the Ministry of Human Resource Development and the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (CIFEL) in improving English skills. "The material developed and supplied free of cost by the CIFEL is undoubtedly a boon to the teachers," he observed.
Pass percentage
Deputy District Education Officer D. Venkata Subbaiah called upon the teachers to pay more attention in improving the pass percentage in the forthcoming SSC examinations. Teachers of various Government high schools from 26 mandals of the district took part in the training programme that included a session on grammar.
