VIJAYAWADA : City Police Commissioner C.V. Anand on Saturday issued a `lookout circular' against Md. Basheer, a resident of Ibrahimpatnam and his parents, following registration of a case of harassment against them under Section 498 (A) of the IPC in the wake of a complaint lodged by Basheer's wife Sk. Ghousia Begum. Information was sent to airports across the country to prevent Basheer and his parents from leaving the country. Mr. Anand told The Hindu that the Ibrahimpatnam sub-inspector R.G. Jayasurya, who registered the case, had not taken care by way of seizing of Basheer's passport while letting him and his parents go. After the case was registered on February 22, all the three were questioned, but were allowed to go home as Basheer complained of unease in chest. They disappeared from their home since February 23. Ghousia (25), a resident of Gollavani Kaluva village in Chandragiri mandal of Chittoor district, married Basheer in August 2002, and lived with him in Dubai until a couple of years ago. Basheer's father, Md. Mastan Saheb, a Telugu lecturer in Zakir Hussain Junior College, Ibrahimpatnam, and mother, Zubeida, began allegedly harassing Ghousia for more dowry, and brought her along with them to Ibrahimpatnam in 2005. She left for her village unable to bear the harassment. On hearing an unconfirmed report that her husband married another girl in Dubai, Ghousia reached Ibrahimpatnam last year and sought justice. Mr. Jayasurya summoned Basheer from Dubai and his parents for counselling. At a meeting held in the presence of all the teachers a couple of months ago, Basheer apparently handed over a letter to the police, promising to take Ghousia to Dubai this month. But on receiving report that her husband married another girl, Ghousia lodged a police complaint, which was, allegedly not registered for some time until Mr. Anand intervened.
