Proposal pending with Finance Department, says Kumaraswamy

  • Department has sought Rs. 65 lakh for it

Bangalore: The State Government was keen on setting up the State Children's Commission to help children in distress under the Commission for Protection of Child Rights Act, 2005, Minister for Women and Child Welfare H.K. Kumaraswamy said here on Saturday.

Speaking to presspersons after inaugurating the office of Deputy Director, Women and Child Development on Hosur Road on the premises where most of the institutions run by the department are housed, Mr. Kumaraswamy said, "we have sought Rs. 65 lakh for the setting up of the commission and the proposal is pending with the Finance Department. As soon as the money is sanctioned we will start work on the commission," he said.

The Office of the Deputy Director was earlier in a rented building in Jayanagar and now it has moved to the new building. Another floor will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 10.91 lakh, which will house storeroom and meeting hall once the funds are released by the Government.
