Bus service to Kolkata launched

Visakhapatnam : A private operator has introduced a super luxury air-conditioned Volvo bus between Visakhapatnam and Kolkata on Sunday.

Speaking to reporters before flagging off the 45-seater bus, run by Kolkata-based Royal Cruiser of Krushik Logistics Private Ltd., near Manorama Talkies, spokesman of the service Rajendra Prasad Somany said this was the first time such a bus was introduced to Kolkata (fare Rs.1,050) from Vizag.

The bus would leave the city daily at 3 p.m. and reach Kolkata the next morning at 6 a.m. after a 15-hour journey with halts at Berhampur (fare Rs.350), Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar (Rs.510), Cuttack (Rs.550), Balasore (Rs.750), and Kharagpur (Rs.910).

In the return direction also, the bus would leave Kolkata at 3 p.m. and reach Vizag at 6 a.m. the next day, he said. Courier service was also being introduced, he added.
