Cleanliness campaign

As part of social service by NGO

Nagapattinam : Members belonging to two youth groups of the People's Development Association, a Madurai-based NGO, launched village cleanliness campaign at Pandagasalai near Velankanni in the district on Sunday.

Joe Velu, Director, who inaugurated the campaign, said that the PDA had formed youth groups in several tsunami-hit villages to carry out social service activities.

He pointed out that the PDA had motivated two youth groups — Veerarkal and Phoenix at Pandagasalai to undertake the village cleanliness campaign.

Juliet Arputharaj, chairperson, Velankanni special town panchayat, said the panchayat would extend all assistance to the youth groups.

PDA programme coordinators D.R.Anand Jebaseelan and P. Rajesh Kumar organised the campaign. N. Manickam, youth member, welcomed the gathering. R.Senthil, president of PDA youth group, proposed a vote of thanks.
