SHIMLA:
The police investigative team in the infamous CPMT scam has filed a charge sheet against 119 persons
The police have indicted the benefited students, parents of 38 illegally selected students and various middle men involved in the intricate leakage process by producing their mobile records, bank accounts and similar dates of staying in parallel hotels during the exams.
The police after seeking repeated extension in the high profile case took at least seven months to concretise its evidences and ultimately filed it in the court of judicial magistrate J.L. Azad before the expiry of deadline on Monday.
The High Court had ordered a thorough enquiry into the leakage case after the State Government had given a clean chit to the University for conducting the controversial combined pre-medical test examination that had raised public outrage after some below average students got selected and meritorious students suffered.
The police team headed by DIG O.C. Thakur, SP A.P. Singh and ASP Arvind Negi had left no stone unturned in nabbing paper leak mafias from as far as Bihar, U.P., Punjab, Haryana, Karnataka and Delhi. A strong contingent of around 50 police personnel had worked day and night in this much talked about case having definite political fallouts, said a top official.
Cases have been filed under sections 109, 120 B, 381, 419, 420 and Himachal Pradesh Malpractices Act and sections 4(2), 6 and 10 of University examinations Act.
