KATHMANDU: The Government on Monday decided to nationalise the property belonging to King Gyanendra and late King Birendra. The Cabinet also formed a committee led by Minister Gopal Man Shrestha to make arrangements in this regard. The decision is in line with the Interim Constitution which says property inherited by the king by virtue of his ascendance to the throne will be nationalised and property belonging to late king Birendra and his family would be put under a national trust. The king will continue to own his personal property. The Cabinet also concluded that the king's Democracy Day message was "unauthorised and unconstitutional" and decided to initiate necessary action against him.
