DHAKA: A fire in a high-rise building which housed three TV channels and a Bengali daily Amar Desh in Dhaka left at least two persons dead and scores of injured on Monday. Troops were called to assist the firefighters to rescue hundreds of people trapped inside the 11-storey commercial complex. Helicopters were also pressed into operation to rescue trapped people. Dozens of people were injured and taken to hospital. Officials, engaged in fighting one of a number of such worst incidents in Dhaka in recent times, believe the fire to have originated from electric short circuit. An estimated 2,000 persons work in the block.
