Collector inspects development works

"A sum of Rs.2.20 crore has been spent in 11 villages"

Nagapattinam : A total of 83 villages will be covered under the new Anna Marumalarchi Thittam in 2007-08 in Nagapattinam district and Rs.20 lakh spent in each village on various development works, including laying of cement roads, formation of new ponds, library buildings, formation of playground in village schools, etc., said Tenkasi S. Jawahar, Collector, on Monday.

The Collector, who inspected the development works being carried out under the new AMT in Sembanarkoil block, said that the scheme was being implemented in 82 villages this year. He pointed out that Rs.2.20 crore had been spent in 11 villages, including Chandrapadi, Akkur and Madirimangalam in Sembanarkovil block.

He said that various development works, including construction of school buildings, desilting of irrigation channels and laying of new roads were taken up by various departments at a cost of Rs.20 crore. The Collector instructed the officials to speed up the works.
