`Make the best use of opportunities'

BANGALORE: National Public School, Rajajinagar, held its valedictory function of co-curricular activities of the year recently. It began with an invocation song, followed by a fusion dance to the song, "The Prayer". Students were honoured with prizes they won in various competitions during the year. Centaur House walked away with the overall winners' trophy. The function was followed by a ceremony where the prefects handed over the school flag to the vice-prefects. Vice-principal Sumitra Das stressedthe need for students to make the best use of opportunities and strive for the growth of society.

`Nrithyotsava 2007'

Holy Angel's High School, Vijayanagar, organised a cultural festival, "Nrithyotsava 2007", highlighting the past and present glory of India with a focus on Karnataka as part of the Suvarna Karnataka celebrations. Speaking after inaugurating the festival, K. Gangappa Gowda, Ex-officio Joint Director of Public Instruction, said that the destiny of a country was shaped in the classrooms and real education should aim at building a healthy society. He gave away prizes to meritorious students.

Principal P. Lokesh said students were eagerly waiting for the event. "For some, it was receiving prizes and for others, it was stage appearance. It was both for many," he added. Headmistress Radhika presented the annual report and highlighted the achievements of the students. Purushotham N., chairman of the institution, was present.

Valedictory function

For the outgoing students of St. Thomas Public School, New Thippasandra, the valedictory function was an occasion to recall the love and contribution of teachers.

Manoj Idiculla, who was the chief guest, said the students should realise the efforts of teachers and parents in moulding their future. Principal M.C. Thomas urged them to uphold the values imbibed in school.

Leadership mantle was handed over to newly elected leaders Harish and Anjana.

`Jyothi Daan'

Oxford Senior Secondary School, J.P. Nagar, held its valedictory function recently. The programme began with an invocation song by the school choir, followed by "Jyothi Daan" by class teachers of X and XII standards and "Jyothi Sweekar" by students. Addressing the students, B.R. Manjunath, principal of the Oxford Engineering College, said, "Be best at everything you do." L.S.S. Sharma, chairperson, Sahodaya Schools, advised the students to live up to the expectations of their mentors. Mr. Manjunath and Principal Mariamma George distributed hall tickets to the students. Aditi Bakshi and M.H. Teja gave farewell speeches.
