No end in sight to traffic woes

When Kaloor-Kadavanthra Road was being constructed a couple of years ago, a three-km stretch of road was hailed as the panacea for the traffic congestion in the city.

Barely months after the road was thrown open to traffic with long-distance private buses being diverted along the road, the entire stretch became ridden with potholes.

Even though the potholes were mended by the Greater Cochin Development Authority, it took just a couple of months for the holes and dents to reappear.

Now, the road has become totally unmotorable and no respite seems to be in sight for the commuters.

The ongoing pipe-laying work of the Kerala Water Authority has added to the woes of the road-users.
