Letters to the Editor
The proposal to introduce eight more "Garib Raths" is laudable. But to call them Garib while trying to sell Incredible India to the outside world sounds a bit odd. To be modest is one thing but to indulge in self-humiliation is quite another. How about calling them "Aam Aadmi Raths"?
B.V.V.S. Murthi,
When translated, the name "poor people's chariot" sounds colonial and represents class discrimination.
M.V. Karthik,
The physically handicapped are now called physically challenged and servants domestic help. Must we continue to call the poor `garib'? "Garib Rath" should be renamed "Aam Aadmi Rath."
K.S. Bhalla,
