Korean talks begin

P. S. Suryanarayana

SINGAPORE: The two Koreas on Tuesday began re-engaging each other at the ministerial level to normalise ties and set the clock ticking for an eventual de-nuclearisation of the divided peninsula.

The formal talks, scheduled to start in Pyongyang on Wednesday, mark the first sign of inter-Korean détente since the February 13 six-party accord on the de-nuclearisation. The two Koreas, China, the U.S., Japan, and Russia are the six parties.
