PULIVENDULA: Sports Training Centre (Secunderabad) boys and SAAP Tirupati Academy girls emerged champions in the Andhra Pradesh inter-academy hockey tournament for boys and girls here on Tuesday. Secunderabad STC defeated SAAP Academy (Tirupati) 2-0 in the boys' final. Veer Singh converted a penalty-corner in the 20th minute and in the second-half a field goal by winger Ajay Kumar completed the tally. SAAP Academy (Tirupati) girls scored defeated SAAP Academy (Pulivendula) 1-0 with Pavithra scoring the winner. Dr. N. Nageswara Rao, SAAP VC & MD, and Prof P. Chinnappa Reddy, Technical Advisor to State Government (Sports), gave away the prizes.
