Union slams wage pact

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The INTUC-led Kerala Electricity Employees Confederation has termed the wage agreement proposed to be signed between the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) and employees' unions a betrayal of employee interests.

Confederation general secretary M.S. Rawther told a news conference here on Tuesday that the wage revision would, for the first time in the history of the KSEB, deny the employees the benefit of increment hike and that the minimum hike of Rs. 615 offered by the Board would not be available to one-fourth of the employees who had been recruited after August 1, 2003.

The confederation decided to observe March 1 as `betrayal day.'
