Training for health workers begins

They have been asked to learn more about the health insurance scheme

HASSAN: Chief Executive Officer of zilla panchayat F.R. Jamaadar advised health workers to ensure that all members enrolled with cooperative societies come under the preview of the health protection scheme as all its members are covered under the health insurance scheme.

He was inaugurating the training programme for health workers on "Yashaswini Sahakari Raitha Arogya Rakshana Yojana" at Ambedkar Bhavan in Hassan on Tuesday.

The programme was jointly organised by Hassan District Cooperative Central Bank, Hassan District Cooperative Societies Union, Cooperative Department and District Health & Family Welfare Department. Joint Registrar for Cooperatives, Mysore region, K.S. Himavanth Gopal said the health insurance scheme for cooperative members came into being in 2003 and the members have to pay the insurance premium of theirs and that of their family members to avail the medical facility. Government will bear the expenditure of further treatment including surgery, he added.

In his presidential address, Mr. Shivaram advised health workers to learn more about the health insurance scheme so that they can explain to the members. District Health Officer Nagaraja Rao, president of Hassan District Cooperative Societies Union R.T. Dyave Gowda also spoke.
