5 held in bank robbery case

BHUBANESWAR: With the arrest of five persons on Tuesday, the Bhardak police on claimed to have solved the case pertaining to the incident of looting over Rs 20 lakh and the killing of Central Bank employees on Friday last. Three persons who masterminded the robbery were arrested from Balasore, while two others who helped them were arrested from Bhadrak.

The police, however, said that the motor-cycle borne youths, who looted the money, were still at large. They were hired from Bihar, according to police.

Three employees of the bank were attacked by a group of six miscreants when they had just come out of the LIC office at Banta area of the district headquarters town of Bhadrak at around 1-30 p.m. on Friday.

The assailants, who fired at the bank staff, had managed to flee the spot. Three members of the public, including a 10-year-old girl, had also sustained bullet injuries. Two employees of the bank had succumbed to their injuries at hospital in Cuttack.
