Belgaum: Five persons, including a woman, died on the spot and 17 were injured following a jeep-truck collision between Lolasur and Sangankeri near Gokak at about 7 p.m. on Tuesday. According to the police, the condition of two of the injured is stated to be serious. They were being shifted to a private hospital in Belgaum. The remaining injured have been admitted to a government hospital in Umrani. Four of the dead have been identified as jeep driver Bhimappa Babli (24), Vazir Dadasaheb Killedar (40), Girevva Laxmani Julfi (70) of Tukanatti, and cleaner of the truck Appusaheb Killedar (25). Senior police officials from Gokak rushed to the spot. A case has been registered.
