Ajay Kumar Parida

CHENNAI : Ajay Kumar Parida, Director of the bio-technology programme at the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF), has been selected for National Bio-Science Award for Career Development for the year 2006.

Dr. Parida was chosen for the award in recognition of his research in plant biotechnology and contribution in the area of characterisation of genetic resources and enhancement of coastal ecosystems. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh, a citation and Rs. 3 lakh per year for three years as grant to support the scientist's ongoing research efforts.
