Blast kills 18 children

BAGHDAD: A car bomb exploded next to a football pitch in the western Iraqi city of Ramadi on Tuesday, killing 18 children aged between 10 and 15, and injuring about 20 others, an Iraqi defence official told AFP. The car was parked near the pitch and detonated as the children were playing nearby, he said, speaking on condition of anonymity. The incident comes a day after a suicide car bomb attack, blamed on Al-Qaeda, killed 15 persons in the same restive city, a hotbed of the anti-U.S. insurgency.
