Special security on DU campus for Holi

Staff Reporter

Strict action against those indulging in hooliganism

NEW DELHI: Though the festival of colours is still a few days away, Delhi University seemingly does not want to take any chances and has already made special security arrangements on the campus for Holi. In coordination with the law and order authorities and voluntary organisations, Delhi University's Proctorial staff and security personnel will take disciplinary action against those who indulge in hooliganism during the festival.

"Anyone who indulges in acts of gross indiscipline and causes harassment of any kind would be subject to strict disciplinary action under the provision of University Ordinances XV-B and XV-C," a Delhi University release said on Tuesday.

Law enforcement agencies have been asked to maintain vigil and prevent any act of hooliganism throughout the week. The Delhi Transport Corporation crews have been instructed to take the buses to the nearest police station in the event of any untoward incident or drive the bus with lights on so that the nearest PCR van can intercept them and take action if the need arises.

The University has prohibited playing of Holi during working hours in any educational institution. Also, entry to colleges would be through identity cards.

In addition, Principals, heads of the departments and provosts of halls or hostels would be available in their respective institutions to combat any rowdy incident.

A control room manned jointly by the Delhi police, DTC personnel and University authorities would also be set up at 16 Chhatra Marg on the North Campus. Similarly, the office of the Deputy Dean, Students' Welfare, would function as the joint control room on the South Campus.
