The Department of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) bagged the first prize in the multimedia exhibition concluded here on Tuesday. The second and third prizes went to the Education and Agriculture Department respectively. The Tamil Nadu Adi-Dravidar Housing and Development Corporation got a consolation prize.

Collector R. Palaniyandi, who chaired the meeting, asked the banks to expedite the processing of loan applications under the Prime Minister's Rozgar Yojana.
"A total of 113 applications were pending with various banks in this regard," he added.
Under Swarnajayanthi Grama Swarozgar Yojana, revolving fund was released to 361 beneficiaries and economic assistance to 12 persons, all during the first ten months of the current fiscal.

Mudumalai sanctuary closed
Wildlife Warden, the Nilgiris, Rakesh Kumar Dogra, told reporters here on Wednesday that the prolonged dry spell has made different parts of the sanctuary vulnerable to bush fire.
Despite efforts to contain them, fresh fires were breaking out, posing a major challenge to officials. So far 19 fires had broken out in this season, affecting 620 hectares.
While 11 elephants would remain at the Theppakadu elephant camp, the remaining 11 would be shifted to Bambax, where there was adequate water. During the closure period, work on sprucing up the guesthouses would be expedited.

Counselling for teachers' recruitment
