KADAPA: A permanent `Praja Nyaya Peetham' (Lok Adalat) will be established on Kadapa district court premises on March 3, District Judge M. Vijayalakshmi said on Wednesday. Judges of High Court Justice Bilal Nazki and Justice D.S.R. Varma would inaugurate the permanent Lok Adalat, she told newsmen here.
Cheques
The Judges would disburse cheques for Rs. 2.50 crores to 434 persons displaced by Somasila reservoir at Nyaya Seva Sadan later, she said. Petitioners should bring bank passbooks with them and register with legal services authority to receive their cheques, she said. District Legal Services Authority conducted eight special Lok Adalats so far and settled 2,754 cases, Ms. Vijayalakshmi said. A sum of Rs. 17.21 crores was awarded as compensation. Beneficiaries who lost houses and lands under Somasila reservoir would be directly given compensation and their list would be displayed on the notice board, she said. The High Court Legal Services Authority would conduct camp Lok Adalat, to be chaired by retired High Court Judge Justice G. Bikshapathi, from March 5 to 11. Cheques would also be disbursed on Saturday and Sunday, she added. District Legal Services Authority secretary B. Syamsunder also participated.
