Religious fervour marks Kadiri `brahmostsavam'

KADIRI (ANANTAPUR DT.): The annual `brahmostavams' of ancient Khadri Laxminarasimhaswamy temple here commenced on Wednesday night with `ankurarpanam' ritual in divine grandeur. The festivities will continue till March 13.

According to temple officials, the deity was given `abhishekam' with aromatic oils. The `brahmostavams' were launched with `nityakainkaryam'. Temple trust president Pratap Reddy, Executive Officer Laxminarayana and others participated in the two rituals.

Procession taken out

`Dhwajarohanam' was performed on Thursday morning and `kalyanotsavam' was held in the evening after cleaning up of the temple, installing `Garuda vahanam' on `Shwetha vastram'. A procession of the Laxminarasimhaswamy idol was taken out in the `thiru veedhulu' after performing `Garudanga homam'.

Later, `Bali santarpanam' at `dhwaja sthambham' was followed by `akshatarohana', `mahanivedana' and `prasada viniyogam' and other rituals were performed. `Nava kumharadhana' and `nitya homam' will be performed in the `yagashala' everyday till completion of `brahmostavams'.

Other important rituals to be performed as part of `brahmostavams' include `Brahma Garuda seva' on March 5, `Mohini utsavam' on March 8 and `Brahmostava seva' on March 11. Meanwhile, the temple committee is making elaborate arrangements to handle the heavy inflow of devotees during the annual fete. Steps are also being taken to provide basic amenities to visiting devotees.
