Budget's bright side

While the clamour is that Kerala is neglected in the Union Budget, there are voices that beg to defer. The State is a major beneficiary of the Rs. 719-crore allocation for e-governance in the Union Budget.

According to Anvar Sadath, e-governance manager, Kerala State Information Technology Mission, the State can hope to get a fair share of this allocation, as Kerala is viewed as an e-governance success story and, because of this, the Centre tended to allot pilot projects to Kerala. He pointed out that the Centre was now implementing a massive, multi-billion-dollar National e-Governance Plan (NeGP).
