Fresh impetus to policing

Manoj Abraham has taken charge as City Police Commissioner. He succeeds P. Vijayan, who has been appointed Superintendent of Police, Kollam. Efforts in community policing would continue, said Mr. Abraham after assuming office. He had implemented Maitri scheme, which involved residential associations in community policing initiative during his tenure as City Police Commissioner, Thiruvananthapuram.

He said a detailed action plan would be formed only after studying various aspects of the city. Kochi being the largest city in the State, a different type of policing is required, he said.

He had been Superintendent of Police at Pathanamthitta, Kollam and Kannur before becoming City Police Commissioner, Thiruvananthapuram. Anand Haridas
