`Novel' method to conserve water

People of Kerala are known to be scrupulous in maintaining personal hygiene. Malayalis are made fun of for taking showers in the morning and evening even when the mercury level dips in North India during December and January.

But last week, an unusual petition was received at the Women Police Cell in Kozhikode city. A disgruntled woman, in a statement, said that her husband had not been taking bath for a long period. The hapless victim pleaded that the problem be solved.

Officers of the cell are planning to summon the couple for counselling. Usually, no cases are registered at the cell.

However, a woman constable said that water conservationists must be happy with the new method of saving water for the coming summer.

The Kerala Water Authority supplies water only on alternate days. The daily demand is 150 million litres.
