Hutchison Telecom files caveat

MUMBAI: The Hong Kong-based Hutchison Telecom has filed a caveat before the Bombay High Court to ensure that its plea is heard in case Essar moves the court, challenging the foreign partner's decision to sell its stake to Vodafone.

Essar, which is a 33 per cent stakeholder in mobile joint venture Hutch-Essar, has been claiming that it has the first right of refusal (RoFR) for Hutchison Telecom's (HTIL) stake.

HTIL had recently agreed to sell its 67 per cent stake in the Indian business to U.K.'s Vodafone, side-stepping Essar. — PTI
