Mayor for steps to check water scarcity

KADAPA: Kadapa Mayor P. Ravindranath Reddy called upon water works officials on Thursday to take preventive steps to mitigate drinking water scarcity during summer.

Reviewing water supply position in municipal corporation meeting hall, he urged corporators to apprise him and officials of water supply problems. He urged corporation engineers to regularly tour the city and mitigate drinking water scarcity. He directed officials to disconnect lines where water wastage was rampant.

Municipal Commissioner S. Aleem Basha said water was being supplied through tankers in the problematic areas. Defunct borewells would be repaired, he said. Laying of new pipelines would be completed by March-end. Deputy Mayor K. Nabi Rasool, corporation SE Varaprasada Rao, engineers and corporators took part in the review.
