HYDERABAD: The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) State Committee will organise a `Chalo Assembly' rally on March 22 in protest against the negligent attitude of the Government towards workers in the unorganised sector. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, committee general secretary S. Veeraiah urged the Government to introduce provident fund facility for unorganised sector workers on the lines of West Bengal. The CITU asked the Government to enact a comprehensive law to protect the workers, constitute tripartite committees at district level to monitor the implementation of labour laws and provide reservations in the private sector. The `indifferent attitude' of the Government in taking measures to address the problem of one crore workers was resulting in large-scale migration from the rural areas. Though the CITU had submitted its charter of 21 demands along with five million signatures collected from the workers in various parts of the State a few months ago, the Government had failed to initiate any action, Mr. Veeraiah said.
