NEW DELHI: Andhra Pradesh Government on Thursday urged the Centre to expedite the clearances of proposals submitted by it on irrigation projects and expressed the hope that the Devadula project would get the nod at the meeting of Technical Advisory Committee on Friday. Andhra Pradesh Irrigation Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah who met Union Minister of State Prithviraj Chavan in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), apprised him about the progress of various projects. He said the State Government has started a follow-up action after its meeting with Irrigation Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka and Maharashtra here last month. At the last meeting, all four States had suggested some changes including waiver or increase in the financial limits for check-dams from Rs. 3 lakhs at present; and change the present condition of gravity -based projects. He said the projects were expected to be completed in three years under the accelerated programme, but the net value project value was affecting the cost price. He suggested that the Government either waive the net project value or reduce it and also speed up the process of according project clearances.
