AGAP in semifinals

HYDERABAD: AG Andhra Pradesh defeated Tarbund XI 4-2 to enter the semifinals of the 27th Royal Club invitation hockey tournament for the B. Devarajan Trophy at the Gymkhana Grounds here on Thursday.

AGAP took the lead in the third minute when Ibrahim Bin Mohammad converted a penalty-stroke awarded by referee D.N. Vijay Kumar. Tarbund fought back well to equalise through centre-forward Santosh within two minutes.

AGAP took the lead once again when left-half Vijay Kumar scored in the 24th. In the second session, AGAP made it 3-1 when centre-forward Habib Mohammad scoring with a fine solo effort.

Tarbund reduced the margin when Santosh struck, before AGAP scored the fourth in the 62nd minute through Habib Mohammad. Santosh of Tarbund XI was named `best player' of the day.

Amoga beats Tarun

Amoga Arnova defeated C. Tarun Anirudh 6-3 in the boys' under-12 pre-quarterfinals of the YMCA Open mini sub-junior tennis tournament.

The results: Boys: Under-12: Pre-quarterfinals: Amoga Arnova bt C. Tarun Anirudh 6-3; P. Ashish Rao bt Jeevith Mogili 6-0; Rohan Panicker bt C. Venkat Teja 6-1; G. Dharanidhar Reddy bt N. Win for The Hindu Online

The Hindu Online recorded an eight-wicket win over Keane India Ltd in the Keane Info Cup floodlit corporate cricket tournament at Sports Coaching Foundation (Masab Tank).

The scores: NMDC 82 for seven bt TCS 78 for four.

Keane India Ltd 63 for eight lost to The Hindu Online 64 for two.

Bridge tournament
