HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party has decided to stage dharnas in front of Central Government offices and railway stations on March 5 in protest against Centre's and railways `discrimination' towards the State as reflected in their budgets. Addressing a press meet here on Thursday, TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu said there was nothing for the State in the two budgets though both State and Central Governments were led by the Congress. In contrast, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka were allotted funds. Yet, Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had hailed the Union budget as if it had benefited the State, Mr. Naidu said. A delegation of State MPs met Prime Minister on Wednesday but it had no effect, he said. "When NDA was in power, our demands were conceded so much so that the media there used to say Centre was favouring the State," he recalled. He said industries like Motorola, Nokia, Alcatel, Dell, Flextronics, TISCO, C-DAC, Volkswagen, mega chemical complex, LNG terminal and automobile- testing centre that were to come to the State but preferred to set up shop in other States.
