FIRMING IT UP: Speaker K.R. Suresh Reddy greets Norwegian Ambassador to India Jon Westborg in the Assembly in Hyderabad on Thursday as Chairman of the Conservative Party Ine Marie Eriksen Soreide looks on.

HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy has urged the Norwegian Government to make Andhra Pradesh an investment destination as the latter has made rapid strides in industrial and IT sectors.

Speaking to a 16-member Parliamentary delegation from the Kingdom of Norway led by chairperson of the Norwegian Parliament and leader of Christian Democratic Party Ine Marie Eriksen Soreide here on Thursday, Dr. Reddy said a world class infrastructure was being created in the State.

The State had created over 50 special economic zones (SEZs) and product-specific parks for attracting investments. In addition, abundant natural gas would be available by mid-2008. Skilled manpower was another plus point for the State in attracting investments, he added. Earlier, the team spent half-an-hour watching the proceedings of the budget session sitting in the visitors' gallery. Jon Westborn, Ambassador of Norway to India, accompanied them. Speaker K. R. Suresh Reddy greeted them on behalf of the House.
